A couple weeks ago, I came home and found a package waiting for me. I hadn’t remembered ordering anything, so I was a little baffled as to what it could be. Turns out I had entered some contest — I forgot through which website but it was probably something I found announced on Twitter — and I was sent an advance copy of Robert K. Massie’s biography on Catherine the Great. Thank you Random House Publishing Group! The title is in my “to be read” pile (which is getting smaller!) and I hope to have a review of it posted prior to the November 8 release date.
Another find via Twitter: GoodReads. I came across the website today. Apparently it’s a social networking site for bookworms! I registered quickly but haven’t yet had a chance to create a full profile or really explore the site. I love the tagline: “Meet your next favorite book.” There’s even a section called “Listopia” that features user-created lists of favorites. Maybe I’ll come across some exciting finds. If I do, I’ll definitely share!
